Oh, what a fabulous day! After a week of my brain being on overload (and thinking on Thursday that I really just might losing my %&#ing mind), it was a lovely mental health day.
I had the day off today so that I could volunteer in Ava's classroom this morning. Volunteering was only about an hour but it was so nice to be able to take the kids to school and not rush around the house like maniacs! We parked at B's school, walked Ava to school and the walked back to take B to his class. Then back to Ava's school, where I'm known as "Ava's mom!" The first graders were making musical instruments and I helped with the guitars. Super fun! I was then able to run a couple productive errands and go back to B's school (where I'm known as "Brecken's mom!") to have lunch with him. What fun to be able to sit and chat with a table full of four year old kiddos while eating lunch! After lunch, I did a couple more productive things and then...took a nap! It was short but sweet.
Tonight we made it to the Trunk or Treat at B's school and are now back home. Kids are having a movie night in the basement and we're watching the Royals game while Erick grills shrimp and steak. Yum.
Happy Friday!

Where has the time gone?

Whew! I can't believe it's already mid-October! Time seems to be flying by and we seem to be super busy with the school year in full swing.
I am still loving my position at school this year. I really enjoy teaching the small reading groups and getting to know kids from each grade level instead of just one. My teammate and I have a lot in common and get along very well, which is a plus since we share a room. :) I'm going to be coaching a Girls on the Run group at school beginning in February (brrrr, right?) and I am very excited for that! I think the girls at our school will love it! Also, as of last week, I am a Daisy leader. Ha! I think I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew, but we shall see.
Ava and Brecken are both enjoying school and learning a lot. It's fun to sit down at dinner, ask them about their day and listen to what they have to say. We had B's conference last week and got to find out what he's been up to all day. Academically, he's doing super. He and the other boys just need to learn to keep their hands to themselves. Ava's conference is this week and I'm eager to find out how she's been doing. I love listening to her read and watching her do her math homework. At this point, I still understand what she's doing in math...not really sure what we'll do when she hits the upper grades.
The kids are both signed up for basketball this fall and that's supposed to start next week, but of course we haven't heard from anyone yet when the first practice is scheduled. A little frustrating, but what are you gonna do?
Ava's birthday was the first of this month and we had a party for her the next weekend. She had lots of friends and family show up to skate and hang out. What a lucky seven year old! I can't even believe she's seven. Seriously. Where has the time gone? I was looking at our totsite the other day and watching the videos we had taken of her when she was tiny. What a cutie she was! Of course, she still is a cutie, but she's so grown up now. Ah, my little baby girl Ava. Love her to the moon and back.
Erick has been busy with work, traveling for work and running. He just ran a half marathon this weekend and did so well. We are super proud of him and his dedication!
And last but not least, our house is still for sale. Still. Anyone wanna buy it? Please?
Here are some pics from this month so far (and at some point I plan to play catch up and post about the last couple of months with pictures!)...
